Easy Like Sunday Mornin ReviewHeaven Weatherly entered the world without her mother, she died while giving birth, yet she was not alone. Jackson, her dad made sure she received good care. He loved his beautiful daughter as he had loved her mother, who was the love of his life.
As a father in his child's life, it is a natural desire to want that child to succeed in every aspect of their life. Jackson gave his daughter opportunities to participate in sports and other activities; Heaven excelled in track. Raised in New York, she became extremely attracted to Damon Waters, the star of the basketball team.
As time moved forward, she found herself in a strong relationship with Damon, which led to all kinds of drama. Her father felt lost, as he watched his daughter experience life's bumps and pains. But Heaven wanted to prove that she could handle her problems. Faced with many issues, she left for Atlanta, leaving her best friend and her father behind.
EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNIN' is filled with drama, rape, mayhem and murder. Unfortunately, at times, I found the dialogue confusing as it switched between first, second and third person all on the same page. I was also concerned about the time line of some of the activities that took place. For instance, she met Damon while a junior in high school but it seems that everything happened to young Heaven over a span of less than two years. The time line as described in the book does not match the age that she is celebrating. Even with these two issues, the story was interesting enough to keep me turning pages. Nedra Woods created a strong story line that is sure to attract many readers.
