The Politics of Victimization: Victims, Victimology, and Human Rights ReviewFor a college entry level class, one assignment was to read this book.

In essence the book advances a theory that crime is perpetrated by those who are victims of societal oppression. It also clearly blames the United States' lack of concern with human rights for its' oppressed underclass as a reason that the crime rate is so high.

The class assignment was to summarize the book... which I did ever so well. In the final conclusion it seemed like a good idea to critique the very existence of such a book and the professor's choice of using this text to "program" college students.

To the professor's credit, the paper rec'd an A-. The comments accompanying the grade, can best be paraphrased by saying that the professor didn't feel my paper gave the reader(s) enough credit to read the book and come to their own conclusions.

During graduation ceremonies, the person who performed the commencement address was a former student who became a speech writer for George H. Bush. At the conclusion of his address, this same professor "booed.".The Politics of Victimization: Victims, Victimology, and Human Rights Overview
