Merriam-Webster's Spanish-English Translation Dictionary, Kindle Edition ReviewI just bought this today, and so far, have been impressed. I've been searching for some time to find a Spanish to English dictionary that was Kindle-compatible. All I had to do is change it in "settings" to my default dictionary, and PRESTO (poof!), all my unknown Spanish words were immediately visible just by a flick of the cursor. It is integrated and functions just as the default Kindle dictionary does. (It should be noted by newbie translation dictionary users however: The Spanish language has something like 14 verb tense conjugations, including the conditional, subjunctive, blah, blah, blah. When you are viewing a word in a different tense, you'll receive the "root" word and definition. It might be confusing to you, but persevere, it's how we learn). Overall, this was $6.39 well spent!!!
Just an FYI (on 1/22/11): I see comments and low-star ratings due to non-integration issues on the iPod, iPod Touch and iPad. This review was written in regard to it's integration with the Kindle. The real ACTUAL Kindle. It was written before the iPad even came into retail existence. Users of these other devices need to remember they are not using actual Kindles, but rather Kindle "applications" and should do a little research to see if certain features/options are available before buying. Merriam-Webster's French-English Translation Dictionary, Kindle Edition ReviewIt was easy to make this dictionary the default dictionary on my Kindle 1 (go to "Settings"). But it is a fairly primitive dictionary. For instance, I looked up the words in this line, "l'on effarouche son orgueil; vous le". The dictionary returned entries for "son", orgueil", "vous" and "le", but not for the word I wanted to know, "effarouche." That is because the first person singular form of the word is not in the dictionary. The infinitive, "effaroucher", is in the dictionary, however, and one can find it by doing a global search on the computer for "effaroucher". This is time consuming.
I look forward to a better dictionary (I would pay a lot for a good one), but I will use this one in the mean time.

Easton's Bible Dictionary for Kindle (instant definition lookup while reading any Bible) (Updated) ReviewThis is an amazing product, and for the price it simply cannot be beat.
This is a Kindle dictionary that, if set as your primary dictionary in the menu, will allow you to get instant definitions and entries for any word in any Bible. It will work with all modern translations, and most historical ones, the exception being the Douay-Rheims. The Douay has some spellings for names and places based on the Latin translation done by Jerome in the 4th century. For instance, in the Douay "Noah" is spelled "Noe" and that will simply confuse any Bible dictionary. This really isn't a drawback, it is just a fact of old-English language translations and various spellings for words.
Theologically I have some quibbles with this dictionary. This is definitely an evangelical-protestant dictionary, and sometimes when using it I have noticed that the dictionary clearly displays bias on issues such as justification etc. I really don't have a problem with this (I would not expect a believer in any tradition to compromise their beliefs) but I think the dictionary should identify itself as being evangelical/protestant somewhere in the marketing section so buyers know what they are getting.
Still, even with these quibbles, which from a traditional Catholic customer would be unavoidable, this is an EXCELLENT product for the Kindle. I am amazed at how well and seamlessly this dictionary works with the Kindle. There are no formatting issues; no issues with how to look up words. It is simply flawless in this regard. In terms of formatting it blows away the much more expensive Catholic Bible Dictionaryby Scott Hahn which is both abysmally formatted and overly expensive. The hard cover edition of Hahn's dictionary however is excellent and a great place for anyone interested in Catholic exegesis to get information.
The Easton Bible Dictionary is an excellent offering; it combines seamless integration with the Kindle, outstanding quality of most entries, and a very affordable price.
